On Helen Clark's visit to Belarus

On May 28 UNDP Administrator Ms.Helen Clark stated her visit to Belarus. On the first day of the visit UNDP Administrator held a working meeting with the representatives of UN organizations and agencies in Belarus, took part in the presentation of the projects that are realized by UNDP in our country.

Ms.Helen Clark met with the representatives of state administrative bodies to discuss joint projects on the financial and technical assistance in the spheres of environment protection, agritourism, etc.

On May 29 UNDP Administrator will familiarize herself with the situation in Homiel Region that suffered from Chernobyl disaster. During the trip she will be accompanied by the Emergencies Minister of Belarus Mr.Vladimir Vashchenko. The sides will discuss the measures taken by Belarus to rehabilitate the suffered regions, as well as consider the main direction of cooperation with the potential donors.

Within the visit to Homiel Region Ms.Helen Clark will meet with the citizens of the suffered areas, as well as with the representatives of Homiel regional executive committee who work on the issues of region’s recovery from the consequences of Chernobyl disaster.
