Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI)

Chair of The Board

The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) is a global standard for the good governance of oil, gas and mineral resources. Its purpose is financial transparency and improved governance in the extractive industry. 52 countries are currently members.

In June 2019 Helen Clark was appointed the new Chair of The Board, the EITI's main governing body. She commented on her new role: "At EITI, I will be working with more than 50 countries globally to improve transparency, accountability, and governance, and to raise the bar for extractives governance. I am grateful for the role Fredrik (Fredrik Reinfeldt, former Chair of EITI) and the outgoing Board have played in forging consensus on the revised 2019 EITI Standard, and I look forward to taking this important work forward."
